The burning land last kingdom6/29/2023 Such as a moment including bees and another with ships’ sails. The Burning Land is more of the same of what has come before yet the series is nowhere near becoming stale, in fact, I’d say that as Uhtred is ageing his life experience and intelligence lead to really clever moments that are great to read. The chapters here take about half an hour to read and I tended to devour 2 or 3 in a sitting. My experiences with all of the stories so far have been 4 or 5-star reads and at approximately 300-pages I tend to race through these in under a week. I find myself drifting back to them every 3rd or 4th book. Recently The Saxon Stories series has been my go-to choice when I couldn’t decide between other books to read next. Bidding Wars by Lacey Wolfe6/29/2023 “I am a little thrown off about why you’re here and what you want. I’ll get right on decorating this place for you.” Her tone was laced with sarcasm. Nothing that shows me anything about you.” “I was noticing you have nothing here that makes this place yours. It was a place she existed in, not a place she lived and loved in. I don’t know which one of us it is, but we wouldn’t be in this position otherwise.” We both love that house, but it’s only meant for one of us. And if I wanted to, I could tell you yes to your silly question just to get the house. You can’t just throw this on someone like that. She shook her head with anger, and he knew rejection was coming. “I’ll call my realtor right now, if that’s what it’ll take.” If the house wasn’t part of this, could we have something together?” He put his hand on his pocket, poised to retrieve his cell phone. “You just show up here and now you want to date me. “I don’t know what kind of game you’re trying to play, but you’re insane.” She crossed her arms. He knew though, that if he kissed her, his world would stop. And what the hell it was, he didn’t know. He felt things for her he had never felt before. There was something about the woman in front of him that made his heart speed up and cause him to not think straight. The whole situation was crazy, but it was only a house. He didn’t know what she would say, but if she said yes, he was prepared to walk away from the house. Luke watched the wheels turning in Molly’s head. In April 2018, Martin commented he had not started working on the book, and in November he said that after The Winds of Winter he would decide what to do next: A Dream of Spring or the second volume of Fire & Blood or one or two stories for the Tales of Dunk and Egg. In 2015, Martin said that he was not writing A Dream of Spring together with The Winds of Winter, and in early 2016, he said he did not believe A Dream of Spring would be published before the last season of the HBO show. In 2012, Martin had acknowledged his concerns about A Dream of Spring not being completed by the time the TV series Game of Thrones catches up in its storyline to the novels. On the other hand, Martin noted the challenge to avoid a situation like the finale of the TV series Lost, which left some fans disappointed by deviating too far from their own theories and desires. Martin hopes to write an ending similar to The Lord of the Rings that he felt gave the story a satisfying depth and resonance. He knows the ending in broad strokes as well as the future of the main characters, and will finish the series with bittersweet elements where not everyone will live happily ever after. With his stated goal of telling the story from beginning to end, he will not truncate the story to fit into an arbitrary number of volumes. Martin is firm about ending the series with the seventh novel "until I decide not to be firm". A Dream of Spring is the planned seventh novel in the epic fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire by American writer George R. A father she had never met and had never received any communications from him. A father who left her and her mother when she was just a baby. Rose goes to Kyoto Japan for the reading of her fathers’ will. I don’t class it as a novel as it’s only 137 pages long but a lot is packed into the scant pages and I felt like I’d read a much larger tome. A Single Rose by Muriel Barbery is a beautifully written book about love, forgiveness, and family. 23 September 2021, ebook, 137 pages, borrowed from via GET A COPY It is said that in ancient China, during the Northern Song Dynasty, there was a Prince who, every year, would have a field of a thousand peonies planted, and during the first days of summer their petals would ripple in the breeze. Muir my first summer in the sierra6/28/2023 The Mountains of California (1894) draws on half a lifetime of exploration of the high Sierra country to celebrate and evoke the region's lakes, forests, flowers, and animals in a masterpiece of observation and poetic description. My First Summer in the Sierra (1911) is his famous account of the spiritual awakening he experienced when, 1869, he first encountered the mountains and valleys of central California. The Story of My Boyhood and Youth (1913) is Muir's account of growing up by the sea in Scotland, of coming to America with his family at age eleven, and of his early fascination with the natural world. Nature Writings collects his most significant and best-loved works in a single volume. A crucial figure in the creation of our national parks system and a visionary prophet of environmental awareness, he was also a master of natural description who evoked with unique power and intimacy the untrammeled landscapes of the American West. In a lifetime of exploration, writing, and passionate political activism, John Muir made himself America's most eloquent spokesman for the mystery and majesty of the wilderness. The ballad of reading gaol annotations6/28/2023 As Frankel shows, Wilde experienced prison conditions designed to break even the toughest spirit, and yet his writings from this period display an imaginative and verbal brilliance left largely intact. In The Annotated Prison Writings of Oscar Wilde, Nicholas Frankel collects these and other prison writings, accompanied by historical illustrations and his rich facing-page annotations. Behind bars and in the period immediately after his release, Wilde wrote two of his most powerful works-the long autobiographical letter De Profundis and an expansive best-selling poem, The Ballad of Reading Gaol. As cries of "shame" emanated from the gallery, the convicted aesthete was roundly silenced.īut he did not remain so. The lord in question, High Court justice Sir Alfred Wills, sent Wilde to the cells, sentenced to two years in prison with hard labor for the crime of "gross indecency" with other men. "And I? May I say nothing, my lord?" With these words, Oscar Wilde's courtroom trials came to a close.
